Music by the Baptist choir and pallbearers Charles Weatherby George Kerr Pete Kerr Pete Bates Lon Bradberry Robert Chenowth. Honorary pallbearers included Warren White A H Johnson Fred Kerr L L Wilder and L E Bradberry reflecting high esteem. Ev ery pew was filled.

GOS ranch elk permits issued for pasture hunt
The GOS ranch will issue 80 elk permits at 10.00 each for cow or bull elk within the elk pasture north of Silver City during the regular big game season. Permits required and limited to residents of Grant Luna Hidalgo Dona Ana Sierra and Catron counties and non resident landowners. Applications accepted until 10 a m November 1.

Rainbow Meeting Initiates Two Girls in Local Order
The Order of Rainbow for Girls held a special meeting on Friday October 16 to initiate Mise Kelen Groen and Miss Hannah Sue Jones. A 620 pot luck dinner followed with good attendance and enjoyment. Two members received their age and marriage gifts and gavels as Paul Worthy Advisors, while music was provided by Misa Anna Beth Ewing and Mrs Homer Rountree aided singing. The group held a regular meeting Tuesday voting on two candidates for degrees.

Christmas gift from soldier friend to Western Union manager
In October Mises Ann Johnston, Western Union manager, received a substantial Christmas gift from a soldier friend in the Pacific. The money was sent as a Portal money order drawn on the Francisco office. The same amount was sent again on her birthday, October 18, by an old Midland Texas friend they both once lived in.

Cora Ella Bickford McCants born Oct 16 1881 in La Mar Colorado lived there until age five then moved to Hidalgo County New Mexico where she died Oct 14 1943. She married T J McCants in 1908 and had five children. Survived by four children and several siblings. She joined Lordsburg Baptist Church in 1950 and remained a member.

The Chamber of Commerce received a San Diego widow's letter announcing the death of Chas W Kincheloe at an El Paso hospital after medical treatment. Born November 5, 1860 in Utopia Texas, he retired from ranch life and lived with his children in New Mexico and Arizona.
