A rancher named Yarbrough was wounded and taken to a hospital after a confrontation in Animas. Relatives and local law enforcement, including Sheriff and Undersheriff, responded to the scene. Yarbrough’s condition was reported as improving.
Bona Visitors plan a banquet Monday night, October 22 at 7 30 p.m. at The Legion hall in Bisbee and Tombstone of Commerce will host the event. Tickets must be reserved by Saturday, October 20.

Senator Chavez plans to send John Nutz, a Public Works Committee member and engineer, to Lordsburg on Oct. 19 or 20 to study flood control needs. The Chamber of Commerce hopes the committee can find a solution given Lordsburg’s lack of funds for drainage.
Seventh District president Mrs Buford Slover Jr visited The American Legion Auxiliary Coronado Unit 29 in Animas. She shared photos from the national convention in Los Angeles and spoke on duties as delegation page carrying the department flag for New Mexico. The unit donated ten dollars to Ft Bayard veterans hospital gift shop and five dollars to the rehabilitation project.
Mr and Mrs C B Olney relocate from Lordsburg to San Angelo Texas where they formerly built and sold the Texas Arizona Motor Freight Co Olney will head Sunset Freight Lines in the new assignment a role that entails substantial travel.

Delegates and alternates from Lordsburg and Deming are listed.

Burglars entered Spencer and Sons store between Oct 16 closing and Oct 17 opening. About $60 cash and $200 in merchandise were stolen, likely via a tree access to an air conditioner duct. Two suspects were questioned but released after alibis checked.
