Developer Must Appear Before Public Service Commission

Lordsburg land developer James McCutchan, builder of Glen Acres Subdivision, must show cause why his water system should not come under the State Public Service Commission. A hearing is set for Nov 14 in Santa Fe. Residents complain rates rose to 20 dollars monthly as of Sept 1, 1980. If deemed a public utility, McCutchan could face contempt for lacking a certificate of public convenience and necessity.

Tucson Man Pleads Guilty in Lordsburg Robbery Case

Albert Matthews faces sentencing November 3 after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary, larceny, aggravated battery and false imprisonment in a Lordsburg robbery that netted about 77000 in gold nuggets coins and valuables. A second suspect remains at large.

City Cable TV Service To Offer WOR Channel 9

City TV Cable Service will begin offering WOR TV Channel 9 in New York on November 1 1980 over Channel 12 satellite systems. SCS furnishes the signal for KTVU Oakland and plans to replace KTVU on its satellite facilities with minimal inconvenience to customers. The change takes effect November 1 1980.

Absentee Ballots Available October 25 in Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County Clerk Becky Diaz announces absentee ballots will be mailed by October 25 with October 30 as the last date to vote absentee in person. She urges voters to participate amid a presidential year and six constitutional amendments. Sample ballots will be available countywide. those unable to vote due to illness or disability may request notaries or assistance. Law enforcement will monitor precincts one week before election day to prevent electioneering and ensure access.
