Farm Bureau To Meet Saturday At Animas
The Hidalgo County Farm and Livestock Bureau will meet Saturday October 17 in the Animas School Cafeteria. Proceedings start at 3 00 P M with a barbecue dinner to follow. Police Chief Reports To Council
Police Chief Ed Cramer reported a successful quarter to the Lordsburg City Council. Officers responded to 309 calls requiring reports, issued 246 traffic and non-traffic citations including 16 DWI. Animal control handled 170 calls. Training in PR24 baton use is complete and officers are certified.

Compliance A Must With Immigration Act
On June 1 1987 the provision of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 was implemented. Every employer must verify that persons hired after November 6 1986 are not unauthorized aliens. The law requires Form I-9 completion and document verification. Citizens must provide documents and a receipt if awaiting them. Chickering Concert Piano Returns Home to Lordsburg
A decades old Lordsburg High School piano, purchased in 1929 by the PTA and later sold in 1974, was found for sale in Deming. A local drive raised funds to repurchase it, reaching about $2,000 by July and over $700 in September, enough to pay the remaining balance. The piano is now on the Central gym stage and used in music classes.
