Westar to buy Federal stake in Lordsburg mine
Westar Corporation announces agreement to acquire Federal Resources 30 percent interest in the Lordsburg mine for 1.95 million, giving Westar full ownership of the 10 000 acre operation in southwestern New Mexico. The project includes the Banner copper mill and related facilities. The company has started loading ore and plans to reach 20 000 tons per month while exploring for gold and silver.

The Animas School Community Fund-Raiser Supper on September 25 before Homecoming raised 650 dollars for re-roofing the Old School Gymnasium. About 200 attendees enjoyed homestyle dishes and time volunteering. A Halloween carnival is planned October 31 in the Old School Gym and Multi-Cultural Room, with a workday scheduled October 24 at 9 a.m. Bring tools if available.
