A letter of praise from Southwest New Mexico Officials Harold M. Stambach compliments Lordsburg and Dering school coaches principals for behavior after the Deming game in Lordsburg two weeks ago. Officials noted the gentlemen conduct of coaches players and crowd, praising sportsmanship and fair play.

Oy Scout Fund Drive Details for Lordsburg

The yearly fund drive for oy Scouts will be held October 5, 1955 in Lordsburg. The committee has not completed plans but an announcement will appear in next week's issue.

Virden Community Sponsor Fair For Church Benefit

Virden hosts a community fair on Friday September 23 to raise funds for church activities. Farmers, housewives, students and church groups prepared livestock, produce, crafts, and entertainment led by J Lothair Payne and Emma L Merrell with Rachel Jensen and others organizing exhibits, flowers, refreshments and games of skill.

Election Of Officers To Local Girl Scout Organization

Electors of Officers completed the Associational meeting last Monday night. Mrs Messe car was re elected president Mrs Eugene Wood treasurer and Mrs Frank Bowman secretary registrar for three year terms. Mrs Wesley Freeburg is vice president and two years of a three year term remain. The new Senior Troop organized by Mrs Paul Probert is forming and will join the Girl Scout Fund Drive. They may attend an International Senior Scout Encampment in Michigan next year, a first for Lordsburg Girl Scouts. Senior Scouts are permitted to collect now with adult supervision. Dow Gives Burglar Warm Reception

A prowler broke into the Hiravey Martin home last Sunday evening while the Martins were away. The dog inside the kitchen frightened the intruder, who left through the window with blood stains on the floor and window sill. No trace of the intruder has been found.

B P W District Convention Held At Lordsburg

The Business and Professional Women's Club of New Mexico held its district meeting in Lordsburg on October 9. Mrs. Bertha Koff presided at the 11 am business session. A luncheon followed at the American Legion Hall with balloon badges and matchbook seating cues.

4th District Woman's Clubs Convention Here

The Thirty Third Annual Convention of the 4th District of the New Mexico Federation of Women’s Clubs will be hosted by Lordsburg Woman’s Club on Tuesday October 18 at the club building. State President Mrs. L A Burns will attend with most district and state officers. Registration at 9 with chairs Mrs. Wesley Freeburg Mrs. Harry Chase and Mrs. N M Morrison. Formal opening at 10 Invocation by Mrs. A C Cox. Welcome by Mrs.ack Hazleton and district response by Mrs. Wesley Freeburg. At 11:40 special music by Elbert P. Daniels. A pageant will be presented and luncheon at noon.
