Resource Conservation Development Project Formed in Silver City

Representatives of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts met in Silver City to form a Southwest New Mexico Resource Conservation and Development Project. Officers named Rankin as chairman Conners as vice chairman and McKee as secretary treasurer. The group outlined project boundaries and more than 100 job objectives to speed conservation of land water soil crops wildlife and recreation in the region.

Silver City To Host American Legion Spring Conference

The 7th district fall conference in Lordsburg featured joint sessions of the American Legion and Auxiliary with remarks by Mayor Alan A Koff and Chief C L Rogers on crime and drug issues. Memorial services were held at the Woman's Club, and a luncheon for 48 followed before the district meeting adjourned to the Legion Hall led by Department Commander Eloy Parra.

Animas High to Host Annual School Carnival

Animas High School announces its annual carnival to benefit the Athletic Department. The event starts Saturday at 6 30 pm with familiar carnival features and new attractions. A Carnival Queen and Princess contest is underway and the Queen Coronation will highlight the evening. Proceeds support the athletic fund and teams.
