A state education survey team visited Animas Public Schools on Thursday and Friday at the invitation of Supt H J Overholt and the Animas Independent Board. Ernest Winebrenner of Lordsburg took second in halter with his stallion Dusty Que Bar foaled 1968. Nevi Winebrenner placed fifth in showmanship for ages 13 and under with Sugar Quinn. Franky Kerr was fourth in pole bending aboard Blanton's Maid. Tommie Spurgeon, 14, won first in bull riding. A D Richins joined riding and roping events. Winebrenner also earned a trophy at Cliff show and travels to Yaleta Texas this week.

Robbers Hit Two Motels and High School Vandalism
In early Wednesday incidents two men robbed the Troi Motel clerk Dennis Barrett of about 120 dollars and a check then fled east. Earlier a Renee Motel employee was accosted by a man who tried to force entry to the safe. a suspect was held for interrogation. At 9 am the high school suffered extensive vandalism including broken windows, damaged machines, and scattered books. police questioned six youths as possible suspects.
