Lordsburg School Board OKs Bond Sale and NC Association Visit

The Lordsburg School District board approved selling bonds for high school renovations with bids to be opened November 11 after a Quinn and Company briefing. Bonds are cited in the 6 to 7 percent range. Principal Vance Lee announced a North Central Association visitation set for November 10 to 12 to assess accreditation.

Saddle Thief Strikes at Culberson Ranch

Sheriff Billy Darnell reports four saddles and riding gear stolen from the Culberson Ranch northwest of Lordsburg on Monday October 6. The burglar parked off Duncan Highway and made several trips to the ranch carrying items. a suspect vehicle sighting near the highway should be reported to the Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers, which offers 250 dollars for information leading to arrests.

City Rabies Clinic Sponsored by City on Saturday

The City of Lordsburg hosts a Rabies Clinic on Saturday October 11 1986 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fire Station 1000 South Main Street. Dogs and cats over three months must be vaccinated annually and display vaccination certificates on demand. City dog tags will be issued for a $3.00 lifetime fee. The Animal Control Officer warns that dogs running at large will be cited and to contact City Hall or the Sheriff’s Department for neighbor animal issues.

Vin Fiz Flight Reenactment Reaches Lordsburg Stop

Aviation reenactor James R. Lloyd ports his replica Vin Fiz biplane to retrace Cal Rodgers 1911 transcontinental route. The voyage spans about 4300 miles with 76 stops and 29 crashes, stopping in Deming and Lordsburg with weather permitting arrival October 20 guided by railroad iron compass.

Chamber To Honor Top Citizen at Banquet

Lordsburg Hospital Dedication Set for October 20

The newly remodeled Lordsburg Hospital facility will be dedicated Monday October 20 with Lt Governor Mike Runnels performing the ribbon cutting. The $250,000 remodel by Havens Construction was largely funded by a $204,000 CDBG grant and $35,000 county support, with further contributions from Hidalgo Medical and state dental equipment grants.
