OPA Amends Rules on Ceiling Price Filings for Retailers

A recent OPA amendment relaxes monthly ceiling price filings for new coat of living items by retailers except solid fuels. Solid fuels still require initial and monthly filings. New stores must file price lists but avoid supplementary filings. Men’s and boys’ tailored clothing keep initial but not supplementary requirements. Insecticides and fungicides dealers face no filings.

Arrest for unlawfully wearing Navy uniform case at Alamogordo

Lloyd F. Clay of the FBI swore out a complaint in U S Commissioner Holt's court Tuesday charging Donald Gene French with unlawfully wearing a Navy uniform. A warrant was issued and French was arrested by Otero County sheriff in Alamogordo. Arraignment will occur to determine where the uniform was obtained. This is the first such case in the Lordsburg U S Commissioner’s court in over twenty years. It notes the danger of impersonating military personnel.

National War Fund drive starts October 18

The National War Fund campaign begins October 18 with government sanction and a Hidalgo county quota of 96000 dollars. Seventeen agencies including the U S and War Prisoners’ Aid share receipts. Gov. Pormer Cowboy Becomes Turret Gunner in War Story

Sergeant William M. Beach of Lordsburg New Mexico served as turret gunner in the Eighth Air Force in a ten month campaign over enemy territory. He described his transition from cowboy life to air combat during an American Day talk hosted by the Daily Sketch in London. He is the son of Mrs Minnie L. Anderson of Lordsburg.
