Lordsburg Board Grants 60 Day Reprieve for Enrichment Center
Lordsburg Municipal School Board approved sixty days for citizens to devise a plan for the old High School Enrichment Center. About 25 residents attended the October 2 meeting to urge preservation and propose restoring the building as a potential multi purpose museum. Harvey Lang requested the extension to coordinate a feasible plan. The board appeared receptive, acknowledging the need to act.

Talavera Appointed To Lordsburg City Council Seat
Arturo Talavera was appointed to fill the vacant Lordsburg City Council seat on September 26 after Chris Musquiz resigned. Talavera, a 35 year city employee and former airport superintendent, will serve the unexpired term through March 92. Edward Malone Services Held Here Tuesday
Edward James Malone 90 of Lordsburg died Saturday September 29 at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home. Visitation began at 9 AM and funeral service followed at 10 AM at Bacas Heather Funeral Chapel with Bishop Don Keeling officiating. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery. He was born September 1 1900 in Conception Missouri and was a retired teacher and coach. He lived in Lordsburg 14 years previously in St Louis Missouri and was a member of the LDS Church. Survived by sister-in-law Bobbie Malone Denver and friends in Lordsburg.

Animas Community Center Hosts October Work Day
A work day at the Animas Community Center kicks off Saturday October 6 at 10 00 AM with option to bring refreshments for those unable to work. Also Lordsburg Optimist Club sponsors a Halloween Carnival October 31 at the Special Events Center contact Tom Chavez at 542 9166 to book a booth food or games open to the public. Funding Denied for Housing Authority CIAP Grant
At a September 26 Lordsburg Housing Authority meeting Assistant Director Becky Diaz announced the 1990 CIAP funding was denied as HUD judged the authority’s funds more needed elsewhere. Diaz said CIAP 89 contractors will be sent in before units are available to rent. She noted a four bedroom unit details remain.
