Jenny Eugene Smathers 21 of Bedford Indiana arrested after police in Lordsburg and Safford track a stolen car to him. He admitted stealing cars in El Paso and near Lordsburg and breaking into a Conoco station Miller Chevrolet Black’s Gulf and Stylerite Beauty Salon. A separate theft at City Steam Laundry left a cash register missing about 36 dollars.

Fire damages Powell Plumbing Co building

A fire of undetermined origin heavily damaged Powell Plumbing Co at A Street and Duncan Highway on Wednesday around 4 15. The volunteer fire department extinguished the blaze, with damage confined mainly to the south room. elsewhere the structure suffered smoke and water damage to the contents.
