Local Tax Consultant K Diffenderfer Dies Tuesday
K Diffenderfer, an eminent tax consultant, died Tuesday in Hidalgo County after a lengthy illness. Born May 1, 1885 in Mechanicsville, Pa, he was the son of Emmanuel Good and Fanny Kneyer. He attended Lane High School and earned degrees in accounting and finance, later holding treasurer posts at Lackawanna Steel, Thomas Iron Co, Ironton Railroad, and Radium Corporation.

Talavera Jr. dies in car track crash near Deming
Angel Talavera Jr. died early Saturday October 6 in a head on crash twenty five miles west of Deming New Mexico. He was born August 28 1937 in Lordsburg and served in the U S Army. He was employed as security guard at White Sands Missile Range since 1958. Survivors include his wife Sueanea four sons a daughter and relatives. Pallbearers and Graveside military honors followed a Rosary service at Heather Chapel and Requiem Mass at St Josephs Church. Burial was in Shakespeare Cemetery.

The Lordsburg City Council approved preliminary plans for the Lordsburg Highway Project sent by the state highway engineer. Plans will go to the Bureau of Public Roads for review, then Denver and Washington. The council will not appeal the municipal court ruling and will draft a new ordinance for the municipal judge. Bids for enclosing the municipal building and a bond refunding proposal were deferred for more information.
