Lordsburg Business Club Hosts National Woman's Group Guest

The Lordsburg Business and Professional Club held a Thursday meeting with Miss Thomasine Campbell York a guest from the National Federation of Business and Industrial Women Clubs. Superintendent Tom J. Mayfield spoke on Government and world influence, followed by questions from the audience and social refreshments.

Thanksgiving program at Lordsburg School Assembly

Under Miss Stella Shannon the Lordsburg School held a Thanksgiving program in the assembly. Manuel Guerra opened with America, hall recited For the Flag, and the student body sang Bless America. Barbara Wright spoke. John Boswell played a clarinet solo. Miss Shannon directed a four member Players Club finale titled Modern Youth and Giving.

Nelson Insane Tramp Repeats Separ Crime

According to the Associated Press August Nelson who in 1936 invaded the Warren home at Separ and demanded food shot at Mrs Rose Drysdale Warren wounding her. He later attacked a farmer near Vinton Iowa and shot Arthur Knoke injuring two others before killing himself. He had escaped from an asylum in Las Vegas after a prior beating and long hospital stay.

Bankers Convention Set For Lordsburg April 18 19 1941

FE M Brickley executive vice president of First National Bank of Lordsburg announces the State Bankers Convention will be held in Lordsburg on April 18 and 19 1941. The event marks the first time Lordsburg hosts a large Empire Builders gathering with co hosts American National Bank Silver City and Mimbres Valley Bank Deming. Funeral for Sarah Alice Pride Held in Phoenix

Mr and Mrs BE Pride attended the funeral of Sarah Alice Pride in Phoenix. Born in Lauderdale Mississippi April 4 1856 she would have turned 80 next April. Survived by five of eleven children and seven grandchildren the service was held Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix.

Forest Service program presented to Lordsburg groups

S. B. Leasel Forest Supervisor Gila National Forest spoke in Lordsburg on the Forest Service program. He outlined the national forest plan now before Congress and said joint congressional committee formed in 1938 will study forest issues. He will visit chambers of commerce Lions Clubs Womans Clubs and American Legion to explain the program and build public awareness.
