Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Lordsburg Claims Richard B. Taylor
Richard B. Taylor 23 of Carrizozo New Mexico died after a motorcycle collision near Lordsburg on Highway 70 80. A blown tire on a heavy trailer parked on the shoulder and a missing headlight contributed to the crash. Taylor, a US Air Force member stationed at Williams AFB near Chandler Arizona, was found near the trailer by Justice of the Peace David Warren. The driver of the towing truck was not at the scene.

The Lordsburg Golf Club hosts a one day District Association tournament at the local course this Sunday in June. Member clubs Deming Ft. Bayard Hurley Silver City and Lordsburg sponsor events with Ft. Bayard June 15, Silver City July 13, Hurley August 10, and Deming August 24. Entrants must arrive by 8 30 a m per Fay Powell president of the local club.

Five member State Highway Commission toured Lordsburg to inspect the new highway project. Officials including G D Hatfield and A M Morrison arrived by private car, with other members and chamber leaders joining by air. The visit followed discussions at a Santa Fe meeting about the project’s impact on locals and pending final payment of 91 979 to contractor Jack Adams.
