Miss Virginia Becht of Lordsburg earns a 50 dollar per semester scholarship from the University of New Mexico for four years. The award reflects her four years of strong scholastic standing and statewide junior tests. She must maintain a B average for the first semester and a B average in subsequent semesters. Becht led F H A as parliamentarian, served as president, contributed to the school press, and was active in extracurriculars.

The Hidalgo County Agricultural Mobilization Committee of the United States Department of Agriculture announced ceiling price rules for beef. CPR 23 sets live cattle price baselines per hundredweight with rollbacks after July 30 and October 1. CPR 24 fixes prime carcass beef at Chicago at 57 dollars per hundredweight, with Aug 1 rollback to 54.30. CPR 25 establishes a dollar cent ceiling for beef sold at retail with later rollbacks.

Woman's Club Holds Annual May Breakfast in Hidalgo Hotel
The Women’s Club met Monday May 21 at 10:00 a m in the Hidalgo Hotel lounge for a May breakfast with hostesses Mrs Freeman McWhorter Mrs Homer Brooks and Mrs Sherwood Culberson. Toastmistress was Mrs C C Fuller and Mrs B M Chase gave thanks. About 40 members attended as the nominating committee led by Mrs Co B Austin Mrs Marshall Fuller and Mrs Emma J Scofield presented the 1951 52 slate including Berle Kerr president Freeman McWhorter vice president Sherwood Culberson corres sec Marshall Fuller rec sec Alan Koff treasurer and J A Foster parliamentarian all elected unanimously. Installation is planned for September.
