Tragic Crash Claims Two El Paso Men in Gila Forest

Civil Air Patrol searched after a two seat Luscomb plane vanished while en route from Campbell's ranch to Las Cruces. The bodies of Donald H. Mein Mey 25 and William A. Fleer 20 were recovered with the wrecked aircraft in the Gila Forest north of Silver City. Desmond Corcoran part owner said night flying was not planned and a pickup in Las Cruces would follow. The crash occurred about 7 P.M. Saturday and CAP began midnight search. bodies found about 6:30 A.M. Sunday.

Radar Check in Lordsburg Nets 17 Speeders

Captain John K Bradford and Neal Moore of the New Mexico State Police with Hidalgo County Sheriff’s department ran a radar check Tuesday near Lordsburg. Seventeen cars were clocked for speeding and drivers were arrested and fined, with fines from 10 to 25 dollars assessed by Justice of the Peace C D Brown.
