Smuggling Suspects Arrested Near Lordsburg
Lordsburg Border Patrol officers halted two northbound headlights on Hachita Road on May 11 chasing two vehicles for 10 miles. They arrested Nicanor Vielma and Juan Ortiz for allegedly smuggling aliens, finding 28 illegals nearby and learning passengers paid $250 each. David Louie Wins Superior Rating At Anaheim Science Fair
David Louie of Lordsburg earned a Superior Rating plus a U S Department of Transportation special award for his Magnetic Suspension Vehicle at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Anaheim California May 11. He was one of three New Mexico students among 451 finalists judged by 451 judges. Louie, teacher Alan Haines and observer Peter Hum toured 451 exhibits and attended events including Sea World San Diego Zoo La Brea Tar Pits Universal Studios Busch Gardens NBC Studios and the hosts banquet. The NASAs Mars Viking Landing Program head spoke at the event. Haines praised the fair and Disneyland party for entrants. An Animal Parent Advisory Committee meeting is set for Monday May 22 at 7 p m in the Junior High Library.
