Chamber Studies Placemats for Lordsburg and Hidalgo County
The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce discussed corrections to restaurant placemats drawn by Epstein Enterprises of Albuquerque. They urged adding a coniferous tree on Highway 90, the Playas road, a From Tucson sign, To Mexico label changes, Coronado and Cave Creek Campgrounds, and noted billboard leasing vs buying costs. They plan locating five to six potential sign sites with Epstein. A carnival is eyed for Hidalgo County Fiat 1985, with 1984 bookings and possible Soap Box Derby weekend option. The 1984 Parade and County Fair theme Cowboy Heaven was chosen from several submissions by Gayle Kipp.

Paul Gallosa Dies In Car Accident
Paul Holguin Gallosa, 24, of 816 South Pearl Deming died in a one car crash nine miles east of Lordsburg on Interstate 10. Born January 18 1960 in Deming he worked in construction in Arizona. Rosary and funeral Mass were held at Baca's Wheeler Mortuary Chapel and St Ann's Catholic Church. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Survived by parents Vicente Gallosa and Chila Holguin, six brothers and four sisters, grandparents, pallbearers named, arrangements by Baca's Wheeler Mortuary.
