Women’s Club Hosts Hidalgo County Extension Event

Sage and Land Extension of Lordsburg hosted the Sew-So Extension of Cotton City and Vic Extension Club gathering at the Woman’s Club. Highlights included a Parade of Bonnets, a reading of bonnets poetry, talks by Lloyd Reed and Elbert Coursey, and reports on state meetings and library programs.

Ver City Team Indians Triumph in Sunday Baseball

Ver City Indians edged Lordsburg Indians 5 to 3 in a Sunday game at Short Field. Paul R Gantz hit two home runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth, securing the win for Ver City. Felipe A Indian added a run for the home club as Ma teammate started and was relieved by Sanchez. The visiting Indians will host the club Sunday afternoon at 4.

A Lordsburg meeting last Thursday night set in motion fundraising to finance TV translator installation. Bennie Everett presided. Margaret Codding was named secretary treasurer. Legion Members Hear Convention Reports in Las Cruces

Ray Saucedo and Jesus Estrada reported on the 7th District American Legion convention held in Las Cruces at Legion Hall. State Department officers praised Hidalgo County lawmakers Jack Morgan and R. Hospital Day Observed at Fort Bayard Sunday

The Fort Bayard veterans hospital will host Hospital Day on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. Acting manager Joseph C. Mackney invites all to tour the facility and see how disabled veterans are cared for.
