Local Observer Corps held at Donaldson home
The ceremony honored volunteers for the Ground Observer Corps Meritorious Achievement Award. Albert Carter of the Tucson Air Defense Filter Center presented the awards to Mrs. Donaldson and Mrs. Martin for over 1,500 aircraft flash calls in March. PTA Sponsoring Mobile Dental Unit At Lordsburg
The PTA sponsors a fully equipped mobile dental unit purchased by the State Health Department to serve areas with few dentists. The unit costs about 90 dollars per day, with Lordsburg allotted 14 working days at six dollars and thirty cents, funded by half the community paying half the expense. Children are charged two dollars for X rays cleaning and examination plus one dollar per filling or extraction. In nine days, 135 children were seen and prior year gains show fewer cavities. all children should have a dental examination every four years.

Lordsburg Indians Win Opener Against Deming Merchants
The Lordsburg Indians defeated the Deming Merchants 7 to 6 last Sunday at Shortfield. Winning pitcher Elias Higuerra helped the win with a two base hit early, and Manuel Renteria drove in the first run with a two bagger. Nino Madero pitched the ninth to preserve the lead. Harold Cordova made a daring 8th inning catch. The Indians host Paul R. Gantz’s Silver City team this Sunday at 2 p.m.

Desert Scout Cookout And Court Of Honor Held
Two Lordsburg Boy Scout troops met for a desert cookout near town and held a court of honor last Friday April 26. Troop 120 led by Bryant Winslow and troop 122 led by LaVargne Merrill earned Second and First Class cooking requirements while enjoying star gazing and a rare double tail comet sighting. Tenderfoot badges were awarded to Michael Brown and Richard Winslow. Glenn Merrill of Michigan and Fred E. Johnson attended.
