Silver bullion found near Malone mine by J G Bellows
Mining prospector J G Bellows camping in Thompson Canyon three miles west of the old Malone mine found a silver bullion piece weighing 1 lb 5 oz and the ruins of a half century old Mexican furnace. He also noted other mining evidences in the region and believes high grade ore from Malone was retorted at the furnace. The find is about one mile north of Gold Gulch and viewed by many at the Chamber of Commerce.

Prominent Mining Man George F. Utter Dies in Lordsburg
George F. Utter a prominent mining engineer and mine owner of Duncan Arizona died after an appendicitis operation Wednesday in Lordsburg hospital. Born August 18 1884 in Santa Fe New Mexico he studied at New Mexico State Normal Silver City School of Mines and UC Berkeley. He leaves a widow two sons Douglas and Gordon of Los Angeles two sisters and a brother all of Long Beach. Utter was active in Roary International and owned Steeple Rocks district properties in Grant County. He had wide connections among Southwest mining circles and many friends.

Bennie 8 Donagan, 48, a prominent figure in southwestern New Mexico, shot himself while working as a cook for a roundup south of Animas. A note stated he was in agony and could not endure it. The death, witnessed by Holmes Maddox and Alfred English, led Sheriff Cavin to verify the scene. Funeral services were held at Heather Funeral Home with family members among the pallbearers, and burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
