Harmonica Band Broadcast on KGLU from Animas Schools

The 4-H Harmonica Band from Animas schools performs a 2:30 p m broadcast on KGLU with twelve numbers. A quartet performs two numbers led by conductor Miss Doris Ad and director Mrs Grace Son. Harry Ketman oversees the Animas district work with 17 band members and parental transport to Safford is arranged.

N and T Club Meets At Mrs Melin Home

The N and T Club gathered Tuesday at Mrs. P. M. Melin's home for an afternoon of socializing. Guests included Mesdames George Ble, F. H. Singer, Nellie Hol R. B. Ownby, Jack Clark, Conner, Elbert Jones, Har Kofield, George Ewan, E. J. Ne, T. J. Mayfield, Felix and Joe Emanuel. Refreshments of cake and punch were served.

Mrs Cecilia Fedrick announces WPA sewing project open house from May 20 to 24 with daily displays of garments from this area. A supper, 25 cents, will be served on May 22 at 7:00 P M. at the WPA sewing room third block on the old Silver City road toward the water plant.

Moran party dines with Deming officials at Hotel Hidalgo

Dr and Mrs M J Moran Miss Gwendolyn Considine of the State Highway Department and Secretary John O Leary of the Deming Chamber of Commerce drove over Sunday and were joined at dinner at the Hotel Hidalgo by Secretary Willard FE Holt with Mr O Leary acting as host.

The home features a large basement housing heating and electrical systems a double rear garage and space to store milk and ice cream with freezing devices. Pioneer W J Wamel Dies in Deming Knight Era

Information from Lordsburg on May 14 reports the death of W J Wamel a respected southwestern New Mexico pioneer and cattleman who passed away in Deming on May 13 1940. Funeral services were held at 2 00 pm at Mrs Daisy Upton’s home and interment followed in Deming cemetery. He was known for his integrity and as a contemporary of cattleman Victor Culbertson. His family and many friends mourn his loss.

New Citizenship Day to Honor New Americans

A government led ceremony proclaimed by President Roosevelt Governor Miles and Mayor Short invites new citizens and applicants to a 2:00 pm service sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Immigration Service. The program features the Maverick band, a flag lecture by Colonel Hugh Milton, and readings and songs. The event notes several individuals who have received first citizenship papers.

Chase brothers take third degree at Hurley lodge

Pood Sale Successful Supports Mountain View Cemetery

The Hoard of Trustees of Mountain View Cemetery Association thanks the community for a recent food and rummage sale that netted 87.18 dollars. Conner led as chair of food while Mrs Ralph Smith oversaw rummage. The May meeting extended more water mains in blocks and the treasurer Mrs Mathilda Johnson returned from a lengthy absence. Mrs Johnson spent six months in New York City visiting her sister Miss Anna Reebe. The cemetery board welcomes visitors to meetings.

Miss Eileen Callery Amarillo junior administrative supervisor for the Farm Security Administration toured the office of County Supervisor W H Bason this week. The Hidalgo county ranchmen and farmers benefiting from the FSA rehabilitation program numbered about 130, with W P A assistance adding untold benefits to the county.
