Denise Bagwell Sworn Rodeo Postmistress in New Post

Denise Bagwell was sworn in as Postmistress of the Rodeo Post Office at 2 30 p m Friday. Albuquerque examiner Willie Padilla administered the oath. Postmaster Andy Ellicio welcomed her on behalf of MSC manager William Korbus. Bagwell has 31 years in New Mexico and 16 in Animas, is married to Tom Bagwell with children Brent and Kelley, and previously ran their farm and served as a Rodeo PO clerk. Mary Alba replaces by Bagwell, returning to Lordsburg.

Marine Secures Funding in Regular City Council Session

City council met Tuesday evening with a limited council presence as key members were absent. The meeting focused on securing funding for ongoing marine projects and related infrastructure investments amid attendance gaps.

Weatherization program aids Hidalgo County homes

Hidalgo County funds provide Weatherization Assistance to improve nine homes at no cost under the H E L P program led by Edward Perez. Repairs include weather stripping caulking broken glass solid core doors storm windows insulation and trailer skirting. Lordsburg housing plant bid backed by officials

City engineer Dave Chavez and Victoria Homes Inc. representative Carl Marino met Governor Anaya in Santa Fe on April 26 to discuss a Lordsburg housing plant funded by federal state and local sources. The project, valued at 420000, aims to boost the local economy as street paving is planned this summer. Animas High Announces 1984 Valedictorian and Honors

The 1984 Animas High School valedictorian is Paraiee Payne, daughter of Lloyd and wife. She serves as National Honor Society president, active in F.H.A., chorus, 4-H, and LDS Seminary. plans to attend Eastern Arizona College. Salutatorian Laura Bittle, drum major and NHS vice president, will attend New Mexico State University. Honor graduates Penny Hoskins, Grushenka Engelbrecht, and Tina Maestas Dryb. Baccalaureate is May 13 at 8:00 p.m. in the Cultural Building auditorium. commencement May 18.

A regular meeting turned puzzled when bids opened for the cafetorium enscapulation of asbestos contract. The work covers recoating asbestos surfaces as required by federal law.

Funds and bids update for Hidalgo County meals and bids

Funding is available for home-delivered meals for seniors over 60 in Hidalgo County with homebound status. Lordsburg Center handles eligibility and meals, plus a weekday hot congregate lunch at 12:00. Transportation, activities, and limited home care also offered. Six bids for a project ranged from $4,985 to $12,000.22, with Oronco Corp. as apparent low bidder but failing bond and asbestos requirements. The board rejected all bids and will re-bid, while noting on site air monitoring by consultant Libberton. A business meeting is set at Jim's American Restaurant Friday noon.

Fuelwood Changes Outlined by Glenwood Ranger

Glenwood District Ranger John Garland announced changes effective May 1 when the fuel wood season opened. Price up to five dollars per cord with a $10 minimum for two cords. Each household can purchase 10 cords from the Gila National Forest. Deadwood and live green wood offered, with green sales around June 1, 1984. A map is available at the Glenwood Ranger Station.
