Animas Valley Man Shot Accidentally in Bed

Frances Ammons of upper Animas Valley was seriously wounded by an accidental pistol discharge while moving a bed in his Dunnagan neighborhood home. The hammer struck when the gun fell, bullet entered under his chin and lodged in his brain, according to X rays. He was hospitalized in this city and survived to Wednesday morning.

State Tax Commission Visits Our City

Moving Day For Liberal Editor To Oklahoma

The Liberal editor will depart for Oklahoma for a week to move his family to Lordsburg. During absence the regular staff with Mr. W. E. Holt will edit and publish the next issue. Man Slaughter Charge After Bepar Area Crash

Gabriel Gonzales of Hachita is jailed in Grant County on a man slaughter charge after an automobile crash near Bepar in southern Grant County. Ramona Garcia, about 40, died from injuries at Lordsburg hospital. Gonzales allegedly drove off the road, backed over Garcia, and was said to have been drinking. Hidalgo county officers made the arrest.

Aged citizen dies at Lordsburg hospital

T. J. McCants, an aged resident, died at Lordsburg hospital Thursday April 25 after a long illness. Funeral services were held Friday at Tom Kerr's home with burial in Steins cemetery. He leaves two sons and two daughters, T. H. Elisie, Jake and Jewel McCants.

Lordsburg Fire Department Responds To Multiple Calls

The Lordsburg volunteer fire department fought four calls in a week. Major damage occurred Saturday night at F. W. Bowyer’s home near the Duncan highway where most goods were saved but the house was almost a total loss with an estimated 1650 dollars and about 1000 dollars insured. Earlier alarms sent responders to the Lordeburg Bakery on Hallroad avenue and to the Borderland garage where minor damage occurred to a burier’s car from gasoline ignition.
