Beloved Lordsburg pioneer James Robert Ownby known as Uncle Bob died Monday morning March 1927 at 67. He helped found the Church of Christ, served on the Hidalgo County board of education and as county commissioner, and fueled projects from the court house to the Lordsburg-Virden highway. He leaves a widow, son, and a wide circle of friends.
