A speeding 18 wheel semi plowed into the Lordsburg Port of Entry just after midnight, demolishing the building and killing driver Steven Howard Hudson. Police pursued the erratic truck from Arizona into New Mexico. two port workers were inside but survived unharmed. EMTs rushed witnesses to care. autopsy awaited. A temporary port will open soon, with a new facility planned for 1995 near the Arizona line.

Lordsburg Airport begins $850,000 refurbishment project
Work at Lordsburg Airport underway on an 850000 project to repair runways drainage new lighting and a beacon funded by a federal grant with the city and state each providing five percent. Granite Construction of Tucson low bid and FFA recommendation lead the project set to close roads for 45 to 60 days with heavy equipment on access. City crews will remove underground fuel tanks then set them above ground after inspection.

Lordsburg School Board Adopts Employee-Employer Policy
The Lordsburg School Board unanimously approved a new Employee-Employer Relations Policy at a special meeting led by Brenda Collins.
