Suspect in Circle H Grocery Robbery Held in Arkansas
William Dann Lang, 18, is in custody in Eldorado Arkansas on armed robbery charges from a Circle H Grocery burglary on High 70 at A Street last Friday at 10 p.m. A warrant for 19 year old Tommy L Wilke remains outstanding. Two clerks Ida Ore and Anna Camacho were locked in a walk in refrigerator while the bandits took cash. Police say Lang flew to Arkansas then was arrested there. he waived extradition and faces return to face the armed robbery charge.

State Takes Over Animas Schools After Farlow Resigns
The Animas Independent School District will be administered by the State Department of Education after a 5 0 vote by the school board. Board members sought interim state control until a new superintendent replaces B J Farlow, who resigned at the meeting. A state team had disapproved Animas elementary and placed Animas High School on an advised list for deficiencies. The action follows prior state concerns over administration, periodicals, and lack of drug abuse and physical education programs.

The Animas School Band performed at the Southwest Music Festival in Las Cruces on Saturday March 18 and earned excellent ratings in both performance and sight reading under band director Mr. McCourt. Former Lordsburg Resident Floyd Jones Dies in Texas
Floyd Jones 82, a former Lordsburg resident and Southern Pacific railroad employee, died March 3 at his Breckenridge Texas home. He moved from Lordsburg to Breckenridge in 192A and served as judge of the 90th District Court from 1943 until 1970 after a legal career.
