Fair Board Sets Date for 1962 County Fair

Pioneer Citizen Horace Gordon Dies After Illness
Horace Alexander Gordon died March 19 after years of ill health. Funeral services were held March 21 at Heather Chapel with LDS Church officiating. He was born June 7, 1879 in Yorkville South Carolina and lived in Redrock and Lordsburg. Survivors include wife Alice daughter Arminta Richins son Ray Gordon and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial followed at Mountain View. Heather Mortuary conducted the rites.

Prompt First Aid Proves Valuable In Recent Emergency
Captain Raymond Gale of the Lordsburg Fire Dept used First Aid training when Mrs. Gene Hines collapsed in the Hidalgo Hotel lobby. She stopped breathing, Gale performed mouth to mouth resuscitation, an ambulance transported her to Hidalgo Hospital where doctors diagnosed pneumonia. She is responding well and hopes to return home soon.

Mrs. Marguerite Codding announced at the Chamber of Commerce board meeting that she will resign as secretary effective May 15 after ten years in the post. She began in November 1951 succeeding R. B. Ownby. The search for a replacement will be considered at the April board meeting. Directors were assigned to host out of town guests for the upcoming annual banquet.
