Successful Revival Closes at Methodist Church

The revival meeting at the Methodist church under Rev John S Bice and Rev A E Huston of Dallas closed Sunday night after more than thirty conversions. Twenty five joined the Sunday morning services with several more members vocal as a direct result of the meeting. Sermons by Rev Rice and Rev Huston, with assistance from Rev Wilerton, were described as inspiring.

Old Spanish Trail Jubilee Honors Lordsburg In Auto Cade

Lordsburg will be honored next Monday afternoon as a control point on the great motor cade along the Old Spanish Trail from San Diego to St Augustine. The itinerary shows night controls at Tucson Bisbee and Lordsburg as the parade proceeds east to the Atlantic seaboard via Paso San Antonio Houston New Oceans Pensacola and St Augustine. The event mirrors last year’s Broadway of America motorcade and celebrates the Ponce de Leon anniversary with the dedication of the old Spanish Trail route.

P-0-B Development Co plans a major oil test west of Lordsburg New Mexico near section 16 Tors R2W about 12 miles from the town. J K Ownby Jim Phillips and Mr Bouton push forward despite obstacles and seek local support to finance drilling via land sales. Noted Mining Engineers Visit Lordsburg District

Two prominent mining engineers, Victor Theikes of the Bureau of Mines and Caleek Jones of Lac Ange lew, toured Lordsburg this past week. Theikes, en route to San Francisco to set western headquarters, praised the district and observed steady visits from engineers and operators assessing Bouney properties operated by Pacific Copper Company.

National Guardsmen to Get Pay Checks

Members of Troop 111 Calvary will receive pay checks on Sunday March 24 for services during December January and February. Frank J. McGarthy commands the small platoon of about twenty men attached to the 2nd rifle company based in Deming. Local plans call for Thursday drill nights and future enlistments to form a full company for Lordeburk Hidalgo County with a company storehouse and barracks planned.

Railroad line to be junked in New Mexico soon

The El Paso and Southwestern railroad portion of the Southern Pacific system won permission from the Interstate Commerce Commission to abandon 31 miles of track between Deming and Hermanas in southwestern New Mexico. The ruling cites no prospect of traffic. This makes Lordsburg the regional wholesale hub, as the Lordsburg Hachita line remains the sole north south link for the area.
