The New Mexico Highway Department completed 1.8 miles of County Road B-002 south of Lordsburg, adding six pipe culverts to improve drainage and prevent past impassability. The $133,855 project, contracted to Moore & Cowart Construction, was funded by the 1979 Legislature for school bus routes. A second project in Hidalgo County begins March 17 on NM 9, with a two inch asphalt overlay and a %-inch seal coat planned on two driving lanes and shoulders.
