The Pine Entertainment Star Theatre presents a March 31 event featuring musical acts, oratory and debate. Admission is 50 cents with proceeds for the cement fund and contest trip. The program includes student solos, choruses, a high school orchestra, and a debate on Philippine independence.
At a Tuesday luncheon the club lacked a speaker so M A Codding J J McEvoy and Set Helmstrand shared humorous tales. The chairman urged donations to the Boy Scouts and members contributed two silver dollars each, adding to an already raised ten dollars.
V Williams will preach at Rodeo on Monday night March 24 beginning at 7 30. All residents of the live community are invited to attend.
The basketball team hosted a fine banquet in the Domestic Science room of the high school on Friday night. Miss McClure and her cooking class prepared a four course meal, with art students decorating tables in a basketball theme. Attendees included Hazel Wallace, Jane Jennings, Maryel Pence, Cordelia Augustine, Clara Lovett, and many staff and supporters such as Supt. C. Avery Houser, Professor L. W. Goodman, and editor Gene LeRoy Goodman, who gave speeches and toasts marking a satisfying year.
Mr J Ince, General Superintendent of the Denver district of the Western Union, visited Lordsburg to review the local office. He found affairs in fine condition and praised New Mexico, noting Lordsburg’s winter climate and prosperity as evidence of the region’s potential.

Neely Marsalis and B M Luckie drove mining engineers to Douglas on Monday afternoon. On return that night the Studebaker hit the elbow angle near Rodeo and rolled twice. The car was damaged to about 750 but both occupants escaped unhurt. Neely joked about getting another car the next day.
Barton Tipton a noted pioneer mining man in the region died Monday night at his home aged 64. His funeral was held at the First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon with Rev. W. W. Wilkerson preaching the sermon. Interment followed at Mountainview cemetery. Of his four sons and two daughters all but one son and one daughter attended the service. The old timers are passing on.
Walter Sullivan sells his service station and soda emporium to Cyrus A. Meyer who takes over with B D Pairs in charge while continuing his current job. The Sullivans lease the Commercial Hotel in Deming and begin a new venture as hotel people beloved by locals.
A man’s last thoughts written to his wife a few hours before death will be read during Sunday evening service at The Baptist Church. The reading invites all to attend to learn the final reflections of a man who lived without God.
