Splendid Citizens Gone After Illness of Three Months
Charles S. Pence aged 47 died Sunday March 3 after a short illness. Funeral at Baptist Church with Rev M C Moore delivering the sermon and music by a mixed quartet. Burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Pence married Amy Jones in 1910. moved to Lordsburg ten years later. Five children survive along with two brothers and two sisters. Pence was a longtime employee of Ritter Walker Co and later Texas Louisiana Power Co.

Mrs. C. S. Walker will leave Saturday to attend the Woman's Missionary Council of the Southern Methodist Church in St. Louis March 12 to 18. At a Friday meeting at Mrs. Walker's home, new members were reported and Mrs. Scofield elected president with Mrs. Jeffus as corresponding secretary. Delegates chosen for the Albuquerque conference are Mrs. Trimble and Mrs. Scofield, with alternates Mrs. Green and Mrs. Jeffus. Young man derails locomotive in Lordeburg yards
Maximiliano Rodriguez, 21, climbed into a locomotive in the east Lordeburg yards Sunday and ran it into a derailing switch, blocking all tracks outside the main line until the engine could be put back on. He was jailed to await district court action.
