Reapportionment Passes For State Board Of Education

The 1972 Legislature approves a reapportionment plan creating a 10 member State Board of Education with districts covering Quay San Miguel Union Mora Colfax and Rio Arriba Counties and others. Districts 4 5 8 and 10 include Santa Fe Los Alamos Sandoval Roosevelt Curry and Lincoln counties. Incumbents and party affiliations noted. court action to force reapportionment pending.

Pendleton Named Committee Chairman

George Pendleton is named chairman of Hidalgo County membership committee as part of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association effort to unite ranchers against legislation taxation predator control land rise ecology and other industry pressures. NM Bankers Win Annual Agricultural Award

The New Mexico Bankers Association received the Annual Agricultural Award of the American Bankers Association marking the 32nd year bankers in New Mexico earned national recognition. Douglas B. Stone announced the honor noting NMBA sponsorship of the Agricultural Credit Conference with New Mexico State University and ongoing support for soil, water conservation and 4-H programs.
