Youth Choirs Bring Bible Clubs to Animas Area
Youth groups from Lockney Texas and Portales New Mexico are visiting Animas Playas and Hachita areas to run Bible Clubs for local youth. The Lockney group of 12 workers and seven sponsors held three clubs in Playas, peaking enrollment at 96 participants. The Portales team continues clubs in Animas Windmill and nearby communities this week.

Local Students Attend Annual Gila Summer Band Camp
Nine Lordsburg area residents joined 254 participants at the Fourth Annual Gila Summer Band Camp at Western New Mexico University in June 1924. Students from Lordsburg Playas Animas included Damon Day Darin Day Christy Cory Juliett Madrid Linda Dupnik Theresa Dupnik Jon Napper Tammi Figueroa and Timmie Burk. Directors were Dale Kenned Glenn Hamblen John Schultz and Al Anderson with 22 instructors and seven teen volunteers. The week ended with a mass band concert on Saturday June 4 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
