Fire Destroys East Lordsburg Feed Store Warehouse

Fire at noon destroyed the empty frame building used by Mr. Warren as a temporary storehouse and by Mrs. Parl Huber owner. The Warren property loss, including hay grain and salt, is estimated near $1,000. The local volunteer fire department acted quickly to prevent spread to adjacent structures during remodeling.

X-Ray Machine Installed At County Hospital

A fragile new x-ray unit received through the Chamber of Commerce and local goodwill is being installed at Hidalgo County Hospital. Southwestern Surgical Supply Co. installer Mr. F Hutson will train hospital staff member Mrs. Rice, with J. A. Foster and R. B. Ownby observing. The setup should be complete within a week.

Virden Picture Show Aids Hidalgo Hospital Fund

Virden school sponsored a June picture show to benefit Hidalgo Hospital. J Lae Haere oversaw the event which raised substantial funds and reaffirmed Virden’s commitment to the county’s welfare. Contributions from Mathilde Johnson H A Gordon Long’s Furniture Norwood Implement Co. Cotton City residents and others pushed the total to 9300 dollars with optimism the goal will be reached soon.

Four Lordsburg Men Enlist In Navy

Four Lordsburg High School graduates from Lordsburg New Mexico enlist in the U S Navy. Guillermo Barbosa Lopez Carlos Chavez Saucedo Manuel Yarez Diaz and Armando Padilla Estrada were sent from Globe to Los Angeles and then to the Naval Training Center San Diego for recruit training on June 20 1951.
