Monday proved unlucky for Lordsburg with two boys injured at play. Larry, six, son of Rev and Mrs Lester, fractured both bones of his right forearm. Eleven year old son of Mr and Mrs Felipe Vasquez also broke both bones of the right forearm. Both are in casts and recovering.
Franklin Davidson of the Federal Border Patrol recounts duty in Lordsburg and El Centro aiding Southern California in processing and deporting illegal Mexicans. About 400 people daily were finger-printed and processed, with roughly 2,000 transported inland by plane and a similar number escorted to the border. Local Imperial Valley tensions rose as merchants complained of infiltration and workers replacing Americans.

The arts and crafts class from the local school completed a week term and put a display in the Union Department Store window. The show includes wood work tin work free hand drawing modeling painting and related hand work. Miss Cora Glaze led the four week course with an enrollment of 62 students.
A new United States Employment Service branch operates in Lordsburg in a house trailer west of Ellison Court. Directed by Harold M. Clinite and Vancy Welch the office aids itinerant and migratory laborers by connecting them with seasonal jobs and local employers, with free placement services to register and find work quickly.
Lordsburg Indians in new uniforms sponsor Mr. E. J. Short falter against Central CYO, trailing 11 to 6 as Sais is replaced by Williams. CYO total eight runs, Indians six through eight innings. M Sanchez hits a homer in the seventh.
Mr. Welch criticized the agency for not securing jobs and said it directs those in need to spots where labor of their kind is needed. The service plans to stay in Lordsburg for about 60 days ready to provide free work assistance to anyone seeking or offering labor.
The Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce reports progress on upgrading the landing field to meet C A A standards. Airport engineers from Santa Fe will discuss field lights with the city and chamber, with FAA support and partial cost sharing. Frontier Air Lines plans more flights if night operations are feasible amid lease concerns.
J. A. Foster explains current totals from the hospital drive. A CPS versus Rice-Warren softball event raised 24.15, with 75 from Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph and 25 from Mrs. Mabel Cooper boosting the tally to 9,400. Sidney Wright is added to contributors. The drive needs 2,600 more to reach 12,000, with funds still arriving steadily.
