EMT Course To Begin In Playas

Lordsburg to Start Its Own Police Department July First
Lord sburg will launch its own police department on July 1 the first time in eight years. All patrol officers are state certified with experience from two to fourteen years. Chief Ed Cramer has 34 years in law enforcement and is pursuing re certification in New Mexico. The city received 11800 in a state grant plus 10000 from Federal Revenue Sharing for equipment totaling 21800. An open house will welcome residents to meet Chief Cramer and staff. County brush fires and wrecks keep crews busy
Last week and this week county fire departments responded to multiple brush and grass fires near Hachita and the Muir overpass. I 10 incidents near Animas road junction and Animas Road 338 involved overturned and rolled vehicles with injuries or transports to Gila Regional Hospital. Billy Bridges has been named dispatcher.

Lordsburg Guards Return After Fort Bliss Training
The Lordsburg Unit of the New Mexico National Guard returned from two weeks of annual training at Fort Bliss Texas. They updated records loaded military vehicles for overseas shipment fired the M 42 system scoring 93 hits and completed a nine day field problem. They returned to Dona Ana Base Camp June 17 to compete for best battery, and on June 20 the Lordsburg Silver City A Battery won the top honors trophy.
