Texas New Mexico Power Company urges summer electrical safety as schools close and families spend more time outdoors near power lines. District Manager Jim Bassett cites children at play near trees and substations as a key risk and urges supervision and off limit zones to prevent accidents.
City voters rejected a proposed tax increase this week in a local election. Two hundred fifty three ballots were cast on Tuesday with 131 voting against and 122 in favor. seven abstentions split with four against and three in favor.
Lordsburg prepares for a new Western Skies motel on Main Street near the I-10 ramp. Gen-Con Corp of Las Cruces builds a 40 unit facility with two accessible rooms, a pool, and fenced play area. Opening is planned for August with 40 percent local workers and a dedicated handicapped friendly design.
Dr John C. Lund now practices at Pyramid Family Care Center Hidalgo Medical Complex 500 E 13th St old hospital grounds. He sees patients Monday through Friday 1 PM to 5 PM. The Separ area saw multiple grass and brush fires near railroad segments and mile markers from June 9 to June 15, keeping the county fire department busy. A cattle truck overturned at mile 45, releasing cattle later rounded up by cowboys. a man at mile 8 reportedly jumped in front of vehicles and was arrested after a knife display. a robbery occurred behind Snappy Mart with no arrests reported.
The Hidalgo County Fair seeks parade themes with red and white submission boxes in Saucedo's Up-To-Date Western Auto Western Bank Lordsburg Drug and B & B Clothing Junction. Marsha Hill says the boxes give float builders more time to comply.
