In a doubleheader the Good Pitching and Free Scoring Tide League game saw the Elks Club edged 6-5 in the opener as Gan issued four walks and CPS scored twice in the first and third frames before time ran out. J Tarango and A Gonzales allowed five free passes. Banner Mine shut out Saucedo 6-0 behind Hall Villasanova who worked six innings with two walks and no hits. Gene Moore dominated for Texaco Martinez, allowing two safeties and walking four while Saucedo scored all runs in the fourth. The Miner’s Banner Mine built a 4-0 opening frame followed by four more in the second and one in the third. Beisa worked four innings, Lopez finished. The league resumes Monday as CPS and Gene meet Saucedo Market.

Twirling For Beginners Program For Area Students
Beginning and advanced twirling instruction will be offered for first through eighth graders this fall. Instructors include Judy Mc Alister and others. Session starts Monday June 27 at 8 30 a m with classes from 9 00 a m. A 2 00 per student fee covers ten hours of instruction to raise funds for uniforms for high school and majorettes. Delegates Report On Boys State at Socorro
The 13th annual New Mexico Boys State at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro drew 304 attendees. Delegates formed six cities into two parties Nationalist and Federalist with elections and campaign speeches followed by law and law enforcement classes taught by an FBI agent and a veteran lawyer. Food was ample and recreational facilities included swimming baseball and football.

Roswell bowler Bill Miller set a New Mexico state bowling record on June 9 at Red Rooster Lanes with games of 263 300 299 for a 6862 series in match play.
