Country Time Theme For Hidalgo County Fair Queen Contest
The 1992 Hidalgo County Fair Queen and Princess Contest will be held August 18 at Lordsburg Schools Cafetorium at 7:00 p.m. Queen contestants are ages 16 to 21. Princesses span four age groups from 6 to 15 and Little Miss Hidalgo County covers ages 3 to 5. Hidalgo County Republican Chairman Mac McPherson won a delegate spot for the National Republican Convention in Houston August 17 to 20. He is the District 39 state representative candidate for Hidalgo County and parts of Grant County, with his wife Cordelia also a state delegate. McPherson led in delegate votes at the New Mexico GOP Convention and serves as Bush-Quayle coordinator for Hidalgo Grant and Luna. Memorial Service for Enid Stephenson Held in Lordsburg
Enid H. Stephenson 88 of Lordsburg died June 11 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. A memorial service was held Sunday at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Lordsburg with W. L. Sanders presiding. Born April 4, 1904 in Missouri, she was a former Milwaukee teacher of math and science and a Hidalgo County resident since 1976. She worked at Hidalgo County Public Library until 1988 and is survived by son Royce, daughters Sarah Williams and Mary Kramer, siblings Harold Heberlein and Lois Edgars, six grandchildren with spouses, eight great grandchildren, and multiple in-laws. Baca's Funeral Chapels handled arrangements.
