Lordsburg City Council Meeting Hears Open Center Petition

Citizens gathered Tuesday with a 490 sign petition to keep the Special Events Center open. Senator Bingaman announced Lonnie Camacho has a Naval Academy appointment through NAPS and praised his achievements. The group disputed claims of a shutdown, while council members cited staffing turnover and management issues at the facility.

Deadline Near For Fair Book Advertising

Lordsburg Gets New Fire Engine With Lease Details

Lordsburg welcomed a new 130000 dollar fire engine replacing the 1969 Ford. The seven year lease costs 21000 annually with 14000 for operations, funded from a state fire fund of 35000 yearly. no city funds used. A Colorado firm will inspect operations to improve rating and possibly lower insurance, while 27 hydrants are currently inoperable and 12 awaiting installation. The department, entirely volunteer, pays 10 per fire call to 28 volunteers, and is overseen by Fire Chief John Hill and Councilman Clark Smith.

Hidalgo County Business Expansion Team Formed

The Hidalgo Economic Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce forms a joint venture named Team Development to recruit local business people for meetings with potential in county expansion and relocation prospects. Lordsburg Pool to Open July 1 Despite Budget Gap

City Councilman Clark Smith says the Lordsburg Municipal Swimming Pool will open July 1. The delay stemmed from $1500 not being included in the 1992 93 budget, with funds to be earmarked as soon as the new fiscal year begins.

RC and Black Range RC&D Meet At Lordsburg Civic Center

The annual joint RC&D meeting of Coronado RC&D and Black Range RC&D will be hosted by Black Range at Lordsburg Civic Center at 10:00 a.m. New Mexico time on June 12.
