Local firemen attended a four day Fireman's Convention in City with a German band led by Roy Welles adding entertainment. Speakers urged arson vigilance and proper rescue, with demonstrations on resuscitation and the use of a resuscitator. Roy Shanks and Chief Joe Boone representatives planned public relations talk and a drill under supervision of retired Los Angeles chief.

Bright Lights Narrow Bridge Fatal Crash Claims Mrs Lena Weimer
Mrs Lena Weimer of Escondido California died after a car crash on Highway 70 80 near Lordsburg at 435 am. Driver Frank Harris and a young passenger survived with minor injuries. The car hit the south bridge railing after being blinded by undimmed headlights. Mrs Weimer was 30s at death and buried in Escondido. State Patrolman John Bradford investigated.

City Code Limits Fireworks to July 1–5
Resolution 20 of the City Code prohibits gate and use of fireworks outside July 1 to July 5. The five day window is set for Independence Day celebrations and the police request public cooperation.
Robeson Installed as Worthy Advisor in Rainbow Assembly
Rosilee Robeson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Orville Robeson, was installed as Worthy Advisor of the Lordsburg Assembly of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls in a public ceremony at the Masonic Hall on Friday night June 10. Attending officers included Patsy Batts, Jackie Turrentine, Pat Cory, Lou Ellen Rawson, Margaret Richards, Joyce Anderson, Wan da Kaylon, Mary Read, Barbara McCants and Mary Sue DeVilbiss. Installing Officer Marise Coursey and other officers conducted the service. Mrs Robeson was introduced by her mother. She chose the rainbow colors red missing? daisies. The group plans to attend the State Grand Assembly at Gallup June 16.

Coroner absolves Christensen in Bisbee truck collision
Coroner jury finds Lawrence Melvin Christensen 19 of Lordsburg not to blame for the highway crash that killed Chris Gamble of Bisbee. Gamble driving toward Silver City died when his car and Christensen’s semitrailer collided near Tyrone hill ten miles south of Bisbee. Funeral services for Gamble were held in Bisbee, Arizona.
