Lordsburg Trustees Meet with Volunteer Firemen

The Board of Trustees of Lordsburg met with the volunteer firemen to reorganize and plan a fire program. Delegates were chosen to attend the New Mexico Fire Fight Association meeting in Las Vegas on the 19th to 21st. Six members were elected to attend the Las Vegas convention next week. The board reviewed street sign proposals from Lyle Manufacturing Company and approved their use. Financials show surplus funds in all departments and several bonds to be purchased to reduce debt. Plans to straighten encumbered streets were outlined and approved.

Important Meeting at Silver City Saturday

The State Miners and Prospectors Association will meet at the Grant County courthouse in Silver City at 3 o'clock on Saturday. Lordsburg is urged to send a large delegation to support mining legislation and district organization benefiting the mining industry and local jobs. Cars are expected to arrive before three.

Princess Wanted at the Silver City Rodeo

A Silver City Chamber of Commerce telephone request asks Lordsburg to send a Princess for the three day July rodeo parade. A queen and two princesses will be named from among contestants with cups as prizes. Judging focuses on looks costume and mount. the trip may include the Sheriff’s Posse.

State Police Escort Escorts Broadway Motorcade Across New Mexico

The Broadway of America motorcade entered New Mexico from the east and was met at Anthony by State Policemen J. R. Funk Carlos Salas and Lynn Smith who escorted them to Rodeo.
