Window blasts, burglary report wrap
The sheriff department reports a late Monday night incident in Lordsburg where a suspect with a 12 gauge sawed off shotgun damaged the Snappy Mart and then the State Police office. A 14 year old juvenile was later taken into custody, with the shotgun recovered. A separate June 4 burglary at Miller's Chevrolet involved a 1982 Corvette valued at $17,000, and Dockum's Distributing Co. suffered $1036 in cash and receipts loss attributed to an employee. The group sought to form a statewide board with presidents and managers from every Chamber of Commerce and showed interest in local vineyards a prawn farm and geothermal greenhouses.

County Commissioners Learn About Chemicals
Hidalgo County commissioners heard a presentation by Nelson Chemical Corp on soil chemical stabilization to improve gravel roads. A plan to chemically treat Glen Acres Country Club Lane could cost up to $8000 once soil tests are completed. The board approved Playas Fire Department’s transition to a volunteer organization, enabling state fire funds, and reviewed clinic leasing proposals. J W McCarty requested three additional voting machines to meet state law and discussed redistricting based on geographic features. They opposed southern Coronado Forest wilderness designation and accepted bids for mechanical work at the Rodeo Center and road dip concrete south of Animas.

Diaz Awaiting Sentencing On June 21 For Indecent Exposure
Heriberto B. Diaz of Playas was found guilty on three of 14 counts of indecent exposure. He appeared with attorney Anthony White before Magistrate Rosalina Salinas on May 29. Sentencing is set for Friday, June 21 at 1 30 p m before Judge Salinas. A pre sentencing report will be prepared by the Adult Probation Officer. The incidents reportedly occurred in August 1984.

Continuous Motion Granted In Reyes Arraignment
District Judge Manuel Saucedo granted a motion to continue the arraignment of David E. Reyes charged with the murder of Esther Reyes. No new date was set as a Border Area Health, Inc. mental evaluation had not been received. Prosecutor David Lane filed the first degree murder charge for on or about April 27, 1985.
