Dale and Roy Fletcher retire after 21 years running Fletcher's Country Market in Lordsburg. Opened in 1962, the business grew from a lakeside plot with no pump to a licensed state inspected slaughterhouse and meat processor. Fritz Placencia, newly appointed to the Lordsburg School Board, received the oath of office at the regular meeting. Vice-Chairman Andres Elicio conducted the ceremony. Placencia was appointed two weeks earlier in a special session, replacing Manuel V. D. Saucedo who moved to Washington, D.C., to join Senator staff.

Kin On Liu Choy of Lordsburg died Saturday at Hillcrest Hospital in Silver City. Born March 26, 1906 in China, she moved to Lordsburg in 1976 from Hong Kong. Survived by son Bill Choy and daughter Y. S. Louie of Lordsburg, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ali Salinas. Buried at Silver City Public Cemetery. Pallbearers named Frank Chaires, Richard Ellis, Edward Diaz, Ruben Gomez, Nic kolas Salinas, Lawriece Medina. Jeff Bingaman bids opened for curtains and valances for Cafetorium.
