Guardsmen Sail to Fort Leonard Wood for Basic Training

The local National Guard unit has sent 51 members to five months of training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. Graduates will report for further duty and individual training. Departing guardsmen include Heribero Diaz and several Pvt. rank members. The unit works to reach full strength as vacancies appear.

Wamel to Receive State Farmer Award in Albuquerque

Vacation Bible School Begins Monday at Lordsburg Church

The Lordsburg Church at 5th and Pyramid invites all children to a Vacation Bible School June 11 to June 29. Hart to Be Installed Grand Worthy Advisor

Mary Edith Hart daughter of Mr and Mrs Jim Cureton is to be installed as Grand Worthy Advisor of the Order of Rain for Girls at the Grand Assembly in Las Cruces NMSU from June 4 through June 16. Legion To Sponsor Taco Supper June 16

Phillips Grocery Burglarized at 1205 S Main

Phillips and Son Grocery Store suffered a break in Saturday night after 11 pm. Several hundred dollars worth of merchandise was stolen. Entry gained via broken Yale lock from the storeroom window. exit through the rear door and lock replaced. Police and sheriff's department are investigating with several persons questioned and no arrests yet.

Swimming Lessons Set At Municipal Pool Week Of June 11

Lions Delegates Attend Convention in Ruidoso

Three couples from the local Lions Club attended the Lions Convention in Ruidoso as delegates from Sunday to Tuesday. Mr. Dunagan was appointed district zone secretary and Ed Schmidt of Silver City was elected Deputy District Governor for district 40M. About 800 delegates and members attended, Farmington to host the 1963 convention, and a New Mexico eye bank was discussed.

Gila Cliff Dwellings Caravan Set For June 30

The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual jeep caravan to the Gila Cliff Dwellings in New Mexico on Saturday June 30. The trip begins at Sapillo Creek at 7 a m with a tour of the dwellings followed by a barbecue and drinks. Afternoon stops include the T J Mesa ruins before returning to Sapillo Creek by 4 30 p m.
