Highway Crash Kills Local Man in Lordsburg
Russell L. Saye twenty two of 509 South Penn Street Lordsburg died from injuries after his car rear ended a van type trailer truck on Highway 70 80 sixteen miles east of Lordsburg. He was returning from Deming when the crash occurred driving at high speed and weaving. Forrest Carson twenty seven Hereford Texas driver of the truck said he did not know of the crash until a flat tire stopped him. Albert Swinnen Marlin Texas reported seeing Saye pass at terrific speed. Funeral services set for Heather Chapel at 10 this morning.

Animas Rodeo School Districts To Form Independent District
State Board of Education votes to combine Animas and Rodeo districts into an Independent School District effective July 1 1962. Hidalgo County Board of Education dissolved with a five member interim board appointed by the county superintendent three from Animas and two from Rodeo to govern until the next school election. The new superintendent will reside in Animas and the county superintendent will advise for the year.
