Cattle Rustler Bob Compton Convicted in Silver City Court
Bob Compton 31, manager at Mrs. Margaret Todhunter’s ranch near Deming, was convicted Tuesday in District Court in Silver City on two counts of cattle rustling. He allegedly stole two calves from Victoria Land and Cattle Co. on Sept. 22 while Todhunter was away in Honolulu, part of 101 calves missing. State witnesses linked two calves found on Todhunter’s ranch to Victoria Laird and Cattle Co. inspector Jim Miller testified for the state.

In the southern county, the Godfrey ranch received a new water well drilled by Brothers Drilling after low snow and rainfall depleted their supply.
