The Liberal Files reports Mrs M Messecar, longtime Lordsburg teacher, retired May 23 1923. Rube D Gallman aged 92 died at Emma Taylor home after a long illness. Amanda Bradberry, among Lordsburg’s oldest residents, celebrated her 89th birthday on Saturday May 31.
Ten years ago Von B. B. Jones of Lordsburg wed Vivian B. Hamilton of Orogrande New Mexico in a Sunday ceremony held at 2 pm at Mrs. Felix Jones home officiated by Rev. David E. Moore. A local paper sale, Lordsburg Liberal, transferred to Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Vollmar of Washougal Washington earlier in the week. Jack Money 22, an El Paso Natural Gas Co. worker, died instantly Tuesday in a separate incident.
A person was run down by a tractor east of Lordsburg in an incident reported by local authorities. Emergency responders attended the scene and transported the individual for medical care.
Fifteen years ago on June 5 1942 the funeral of C C Hampton was held from the Heather Mortuary Friday afternoon with Percy E Krewson minister of the Church of Christ officiating Supt E S Bowman of the Banner Mining Co and H I Grimes president of the company traveled to Oklahoma City and Washington DC for mining industry business
Twenty years ago on June 4 1937 Lordsburg witnessed two notable marriages. Miss Gracie Conner married Robert Posner at the Christian Church with Rev J S Brimberry officiating. Helen Johnson and Dudley Robertson wed quietly at the Methodist parsonage on May 30. The Culberson ranch home burned to the ground Sunday afternoon while the residents were away.
